The Book of Life

laid out in a long line
five hundred volumes
in a font size for telephonists
not as complex as you’d think
— mostly junk —
cross-cultural call centres
crackling down twisted wires
but spot-on for all the hot bits
my scent as allure
curves getting more curvy
and my eyes (blue) batting,
flashing at you
replicating sins of my father
mistakes of my mother’s
and, likely,
of my children’s children to come
such intertwining fancy dance
a choreographied shotgun sequence
of special proteins all my own
I bequest hereafter
