Crimes of passion
Aleksandra Lane (Massey University, New Zealand)

.

.

Because in France
crimes of passion are forgiven and
they invented bourgeoisie, we’ll just
keep quiet. We will bury the paper

rock and scissors. Bury your pinot noir
with its elegant nose and likeable
personality. I understand your arrest.

I’ve been in and out of vogue. Tested
false positives. Ratified this and queried that.
Witnessed right-handed justice. Now we do not
inquire, we’re the inquirees.

Please carry the wound like a fashionable cap.
Carry the lower case and stiffen the upper.
I have tried barking marital, and barking up
the crooked grafts of language. poetry.

You need to take off
your licence, pocket the kill.
Be forgiven to forgive.
