September Trip To The Pioneers, After A Death
Maia Rauschenberg (Boston University, US)
.

.
We had a trip planned and went anyway.
Spent the first night at Browns Lake
outside of Dillon, it snowed
.
and Matt fished in his hip waders
with wet snowflakes filling the air
all around him. We slept in our rusty Ford,
.
had hot coffee in the cold morning.
Next day we went to the Big Hole River
near the Sioux Battlefield west
.
of Wisdom. I read, bundled up on the shore
in a low camp chair. Matt fished again,
his fly and line arcing into a lazy eight
and then into no shape at all.
