Savage light
fingers with calloused pads
Redhill’s white, scaly
and leprous inhabitants.

Gaunt, gangly, and cadaverous
trees gather grotesquely
leering at this feral glimmer
in sullen silent witness.

Daybreak cannot subdue
the grey dune’s encroachment
and the green ire of the
wind-whipped sea.
